Creatine

My top 3 beginner supplements

When it comes to supplements, they can definitely help you in the gym and help you get to your goals a little faster. That being said, supplements aren’t a substitute for hard work, meaning they’re not going to be a magic fix.

There are tons of supplements out there these days that will claim to make you stronger, bigger, and faster. But most of them are a waste of money. I’ll go over my top three supplements choices and why they are the best in my opinion.

Pre-workout

Pre-workout is probably my favorite supplement to take, why? Because it can help give you the energy that you need after a long day of work or classes, and the ingredients in pre-workouts can help you in your goals. For example, powerlifters don’t want a pre-workout that is based on getting massive pumps, so they will want to stay away from pre-workouts that have a big emphasis on nitric oxide ingredients. They will want to go with a pre-workout that is more focused on stimulants. Of course with all things, moderation is key, and if you find yourself becoming “immune” to the effects of pre-workout, then a week long break can set you right again.

Protein powders

Protein is another great supplement that works. Although protein powders, shakes etc. work, they are not necessary.  I myself don’t take protein powder that much, because I try to get most of my protein from the foods that I eat, but protein powders can come in handy if you simply cannot eat the amount of protein that you need for your goals. They are a fast and efficient way to get the protein that you need.

Creatine

Creatine is the last of my beginner’s top three supplements that actually work. Creatine works by binding with a phosphate molecule to form creatine phosphate when ingested. To keep things simple, when your body uses energy, it produces adp. This adp is useless in the body on its own, but when creatine is combined with adp, it turns into atp, which is the what the body uses for energy. By adding creatine to your daily supplementation, you are increasing your body’s atp stores, which equals more energy in the gym. Creatine will also hydrate your muscle cells. Hydrated muscle cells means an increase in protein synthesis as well as a physically larger muscle. If there is one supplement I recommend taking, it would be creatine.

These are just my top three supplements that I would recommend every beginner to take. I do take more supplements than these three, but that will be for another article. Using these supplements will help take you to your goals, but remember, hard work is better than any supplement out there.
